PeoCities Page on PB FrontPage 2003

I had known about PeoCities for a while now, and had always been interested in actually creating my own personal internet presence. Not like the dull layout of like Pbook profile, or a PicPoc page with the only customisation of a profile pic and whatever ive reposted.

Unfortunately, my PBML skills aren't great, or very existing for that matter. One afternoon when booting up my HB Compaq to have fun with PBXB, I remembered about Peocities. I then remembered about the existence of PB's FrontPage 2003.

So obtaining/installing it was step one, the obvious place was the Progressnet Archive's software catalouge. However XB needs software to be installed by the setup .exe in a normal folder or from an install CD. Problem being that FrontPage shipped on a disc, so the download on the archive was a .iso image, which XB can't virtually mount nor actually write directly. So I downloaded from my host and burnt it to a CD myself. 1 more CD-R used.

Using it for the first time (any WYSIWYG (great acronym btw!) editor), I figured out to make layouts with a table inserted, just like PSS from what I remember of.

After a few hours of use, I'm writing this. Lists of annoyances/troubles/aka just stuff i havnt figured out yet:

  • Making new subpages, should be obvious but idk. Ive just copied the previous PBML file and removed the specific data.
  • Actually uploading to PeoCities, I have a normal (aka free (aka poor (aka misanthropic miser))) account so I can only use the upload button. Problem is I can't upload a folder. FrontPage stores stuff in other folders such as theme data. Whenever I publish a version to PeoCities, I manualy recreate part of the file structure with the appropriate files until it works.
  • I can't program PBML.
  • I'm an idiot at web design.
  • I know that I will never ever have a personal personal webpage that i will be fully satisfied with from limitations of my own skill. Normally I'd say limitations inspire creativity, but this is an exception.
  • Well, in my defence, I would do some wierd Aero style thingy, extremely difficult. The only site ive seen that gets it right is The Frutiger Aero Archive. Youve already visited it, as you've found this random boring site. It would have refernces to PB95, Progress Skylines II, Grand Theft Progress IV, Clippy Kart Pii: Bar Rewind; with also references to PEBO City: Undercover, PEBO Worlds, OpenTPB, Newer SPB Pii, in terms of games.
  • This got alittle (alot) unfocused.
